CHITIKA REVIEW

Chitika is one of the oldest company in online advertising space. It was founded in year 203. I have signed up an account with them during my initial blogging period. I had heard lot about them over Internet and thought to give them a try. I am writing this post based on my experience with this advertising network. Google adsense is the market leader in contextual advertising and Chitika  being a non-contextual program is avery good choice along with adsense or an adsense alternative.

CHITIKA - SIGNUP AND APPROVAL

Chitika does not have strict sign up requirement.Even small website or new website can apply for publisher account. They don't take much time to approve account. But Chitika does have layers of publisher accounts. Best ads are shown to premium publishers (websites with lots of traffic). You can sign up for Chitika using this link.

CHITIKA - CONTROL PANEL

Chitika does not save the ad format that we already added to our website. So each time we need to add a new ad, we have to go to the Chitika control panel. As and when you create an ad, you may save it to another file so that you can reuse it. Chitika might introduce latest features, and if you don't want to miss that, it is a better idea to add new ads through the control panel. Chitika has the maximum possible combinations of Ad formats. The supported Ads in many different sizes.

CHITIKA - SUPPORT

Chitika support is fairly good. The usual response time from Chitika is within 24 hours which is very fast. Furthermore, they have a very good knowledge base which answers so many questions.

CHITIKA - PAYMENTS

Chitika pays on a net-30 basis. That is they pay like Google Adsense. If you have accumulated 10$ by March end, you will be paid by the April end if you ahve opted for Paypal. You have two options to get paid from Chitika.
  • Through Paypal with a minimum payout of 10$
  • Through Check with a minimum payout of 50$

CHITIKA - REFERRAL

Chitika also has the referral program for bringing in publishers where they pay you 10% of what is earned by your referral for 15 months from the registration date of referral. Furthermore, Chitika has the advertiser referral program where they pay you 25$ when the referred advertiser spends 100$.

CHITIKA - ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

They are old advertising network and reliable one too. There is no doubt that they pay you. All the things mentioned above do work in their favor. But there are some drawbacks as well. They do work great for product based sites. Other area which they need to improve is recognition of international traffic (or traffic other than US). They are good choice for US traffic but not for traffic from India.

CONCLUSION

At the end of the review, our conclusion is the non-contextual advertising company Chitika can be a fairly good choice for people who has product based blogs and for general websites. Since they scan the search strings that we used to reach the website, they are able to outperform adsense for websites containing video content and having little text. Their ad format is unique and have great aesthetics, and their payout is at 10$. Considering all this, Chitika is a good choice.

YouTube for Android Will Soon Support Offline Video Plackback In India

Google will soon allow Android users in India to download YouTube videos and watch them offline. The announcement was made alongside it's first Android One smartphones, a new initiative designed to give users a premium, Google-driven experience at cheaper price-points.

YouTube videos will be available offline in India, meaning that people ca store videos in the YouTube app when they are o WiFi and watch them later - a great benefit for times with a slow connection or re-watching videos without using up the data plan.

The move is significant and should make YouTube a more attractive service in India. Not everyone has contract plans with large or unlimited data caps, and so streaming videos simply isn't an option without incurring charges. With offline playback, Android users can store the videos from their favorite channels so they can be viewed at any time, regardless of their internet connection.

Pact App Pays You To Exercise And Eat Right

You have heard of GymPact, an app that rewards you for hitting the gym on a regular basis and charges you a fee if you don't. Now it is Pact, and it now applies its payment/penalty system to dietary goals as well.
The app offers three different kinds of "pacts": food, gym, and veggie. The food pact requires you to log your daily intake using the excellent MyFitnessPal which now syncs directly with Pact.
With a veggie pact, you set a goal to eat a certain amount of fruits and vegetables per week. To verify each serving, you snap a photo with your phone before eating. (To help prevent cheating, photos are verified using a variety of criteria.)
Finally, the gym pact works much like always, giving you credit for trips to the gym, bike rides of at least 30 minutes, a daily step count of at least 10,000, and so on.
So what kind of money are we talking about? You don't pay anything up front. Instead, if you pledge to eat, say, 10 servings of veggies per week, and manage to do so, you'll earn about $2. But if you miss your goal, you'll be charged a minimum of $5 per veggie.
And that's ultimately how Pact works: the reward money comes from people who fail to honor their pacts. Interestingly, even though there's not a ton of money at stake here, research has shown that when cash is on the line, people are more likely to stick to diet and exercise goals. But obviously some won't make it, hence the pool of payout cash.
Although I do typically exercise three or four times per week, I could definitely stand to increase my fruit and veggie intake. Plus, I've had good luck with monetary motivators like DietBet , so I'll definitely be giving Pact a try.
